Guide to identifying the iPad model
A decade of evolution: iPad and all models
Since the launch of the first iPad on the market on the “relatively distant” 3rd April 2010, the famous Californian company Apple has never stopped designing and producing new models.
The exponential tech evolution we have witnessed over the last 10 years has indeed created the urge to constantly adapt to new technologies, leading Apple to continuously launch new iPad models.
But how can you identify your iPad model?
The iPads are identified in four macro-models, each of which has different sizes, different colours and different features.
In all cases, it is possible to recognise the iPad model both from its outer shell, but also from the inside by its hardware.
"Which iPad model do I have?"
This is the question that often torments the Apple enthusiast consumer.
Not only are there so many iPads and they are often called alike, but their design, while unmistakably Apple, often does not change from one model to the next.
Where is the iPad model printed?
The model is generally identifiable at the bottom of the back of the device, printed with the phrase ‘Designed by Apple in California’. The code corresponds to the exact iPad model, and down below you can view all models and select the specifically designed case.

Where is the iPad model indicated in the system?
You can also recognise the model from the device’s system.
Simply click on Settings, then General, then Info. You will then find the exact model of your iPad next to the wording “Model”.
